Little History about Magnum Band
Years of success surround Magnum Band whose leader the legendary guitar player Dadou Pasquet has been wowing audiences for over 3 decades. The group formed in 1976 when the maestro Pasquet left the famous Tabou Combo. Their hits are too numerous to mention and their lyrics were the ones with the most conscientious meaning. Their sound is still unique. Pa ka pa la, pike devan, ashade, gran, ou pi la take us back to memorable times. The fans are always there.
Nu-Look
December 1st, of 2000 Nu-Look became the band with the sensitive repertoire and the heavy compas sound which Gazman Pierre and Arly La Riviere deliver when necessary. Their hits include: Why do you say you love me, Gran Depanse, Loving You and Ave'w m'ap mache,Iis it real.
Sweet Mickey
In the early 80's emerged a trio on the compa music scene. Showman is the word that best describes Michel Martelly who will do whatever it takes for the attention and the fans. His sampling of other bands songs and his keyboard afforded him the name Prezidan Konpa, the president of compas music. His hits are unforgetable. Ooh la la, Ou ce. His jokes, however nasty keep comingt.
5 morts, dont 3 chanteurs d’un célèbre groupe rap de Port-au-Prince, dans un terrible accident de la circulation
Trois chanteurs d’un groupe musical de tendance rap très populaire en Haïti, « Barricade Crew », ont été tués dans un terrible accident de la circulation survenu dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche non loin de l’aéroport international de Port-au-Prince.
Jean Walker Sénatus (29 ans, alias Catafalque) et Badio Junior (25 ans) ont péri carbonisés dans le véhicule à bord duquel ils se trouvaient. Le véhicule qui s’est complètement retourné, a pris feu avant de terminer sa course dans un mur.
Un troisième chanteur du groupe, Johnny Emmanuel Dade (28 ans) qui avait pu sortir du véhicule, a succombé sur place à ses blessures. Le batteur du groupe, récemment recruté, et le chauffeur du véhicule, ont également péri carbonisés à l’intérieur du véhicule.
Les chanteurs de « Barricade Crew » revenaient d’un show au Night Club Olympia, en Plaine (Nord de la capitale) et se hâtaient pour prendre part à un concert public organisé à l’occasion du 59ème anniversaire d’une station commerciale privée de la capitale haïtienne, Radio-télé Caraïbes.
Ce terrible accident a provoqué dimanche la consternation chez les jeunes de plusieurs quartiers de la zone métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince, généralement épris de musique rap.[jmd/RK]
